One of the biggest superstars in the modern game is James Harden. The Brooklyn Nets superstar has a wide following thanks to his exciting gameplay and antics on the court. Apart from his phenomenal stats in the NBA, another stat under his belt is his free throw percentage. He has been trolled for his foul drawing play in the NBA before and his latest comments have sent NBA Twitter in a frenzy.

Recently, James Harden gave his views regarding refereeing in the league. According to him, the rules are unfair for defenders as they can’t touch a player anymore. With this comment of his, NBA Twitter has gone crazy. Considering his history with free throws, fans have left no stone unturned in roasting the superstar.

When the new NBA rules were announced, it smelled like a trouble for Harden. His trademark style of play consists of moves that force defenders to draw fouls on him. His insane free throw percentage during the 2019/20 season is one for the history books, as he was throwing 11.8 free throws per game!

When asked about the rule change earlier in the season, Harden was quick to give his opinion. And this time he has gone out to support the defenders!

Fans are left wondering, as they did not expect a player like Harden to come out and support the defenders. When the association announced the new rules for the league, Harden was called the ‘poster boy for the rule change’ by the Brooklyn Nets coach.

The new rule disallowed players from leaning into defenders and relying on non-basketball moves to draw foul calls. When asked about his thoughts regarding the change, Harden said, “It’s still basketball at the end of the day. No matter how much of a big deal we try to make it a foul is a foul. It’s pretty simple.”

Having lead the free throw percentage in the league since 2013, the new rule was certain to impact game of James Harden. The Nets star averages 22.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 10.1 assists per game this season.
