Luka Doncic hits the Warriors with a shimmy

With the Warriors taking a leap in the first quarter, the Mavericks needed a desperate bucket. Likewise, the ball came into the hands of their 23-year-old superstar, Luka Doncic. Rallying with the cheers of the crowd, he stepped into a near half-court shot to beat the buzzer and hit a show-stopping triple over Stephen Curry to end the half. Doncic even gave it to the Warriors as he hit Curry’s signature shimmy after his bucket.

Looking at this, NBA Twitter was enjoying the competitive spirit. However, they warned Doncic for sparking a fire in Curry. And so far, the two-point guards are going toe to toe once again.

The Golden State Warriors currently hold a one-point advantage at the half. The scoreline reads 48-47, with Steph leading the way. The 2 time MVP has gathered 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists already. In addition, he is shooting the ball efficiently as well. Fellow All-Star Andrew Wiggins has also been aggressive, scoring 13 points to go with 6 rebounds. These two have been the main engine for the 6-time champions so far.

On the other hand, Luka Doncic has struggled to find his rhythm in the first half. While he is leading the scoring with 15 points and 7 rebounds, Doncic has shot at just 33%. Spencer Dinwiddie is coming alive outscoring the Warriors bench all by himself. The former Nets star has accumulated 11 points. Jalen Brunson continues to be of great help in these playoffs scoring 12 points on efficient shooting splits.

It is clear the Mavericks need to do a better job at making plays. So far, their best playmaker, Doncic, has got only one assist. Moreover, their shooters are having an off night. Bullock is yet to make a three in his 5 attempts while Finney-Smith has cashed in just one. With the crowd in their favor, do you think the Mavs can turn this game around to beat the Warriors?
