The Philadelphia 76ers made headlines after a blockbuster trade to bring in James Harden. And since his debut, it is clear that the Sixers are not going to be an easy team to play against in the league. The dynamic between Joel Embiid and the Beard has worked perfectly and the two are only bound to soar as a duo. However, it seems they are not done with the market just yet. Apparently, Philly is now looking to pursue a Lakers big man, but their fans are not on their side.

The purple and gold have had their fair share of struggles this season. Not only is their chemistry not looking good, but their roster construction is also poor. With rotations changing almost every game, there is little to no stability. With a long list of vets on their roster, some of them have been warming the bench, like DeAndre Jordan.

Hence, it came as a surprise for many that the Lakers’ big man attracted the Sixers’ attention.

Jordan to bid goodbye to the Lakers?

DeAndre Jordan was one of the most exciting centers during his prime. Playing with the Clippers, he was a part of the iconic lob city with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. However, those days are now behind him. While the Lakers big man can still make an impact, age seems to be catching up with him. Hence, Sixers fans weren’t happy with their team turning to him as a backup center.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Philly could aggressively pursue the center as they look for a backup to Embiid. After losing out on Andre Drummond during the Harden trade, they are looking for a true big man to fulfill his spot. While Jordan has lost his edge, he can still act as a high rebounding center for them.

As of now, the Sixers have two centers in their roster apart from Embiid; Willie Cauley-Stein and Charles Bassey. Cauley-Stein is best known for his role with the Kings or Dallas, but the big man has fallen off and hasn’t played any significant minutes. As for Bassey, with Drummond gone, the 21-year-old could have seen an opportunity open up. In just 7 minutes, he is putting up 3 points and 2.7 rebounds so far.

With a young center yet to blossom on their side, many argue that signing Jordan could look like a foolish move. However, he also brings experience to the table and could replace Drummond’s rebounding ability as he averages over 5 rebounds per game currently.

Do you think the Sixers should pursue this move, or should they look for another center? Let us know in the comments below.
