What was Michael Jordan thinking? That is probably one of the very first questions that popped up in NBA fans’ minds. Twitterati was baffled to see the number of games that Gordon Hayward has played since he joined hands with the Charlotte Hornets. The NBA star has played in only 11 games this season and he is already out with an injury. As a result, fans flooded social media with jokes about the Hornets signing Hayward for a staggering amount of $120 million.

Earlier, LaMelo Ball and Dennis Smith Jr. had to sit out of games due to their respective injuries. On the other hand, Cody Martin had to undergo a knee surgery. And now, it’s Hayward. The NBA star has averaged 16.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 11 games so far.

Hayward had sustained a shoulder injury on November 2 during the game against the Chicago Bulls. The 6’7 forward only scored seven points during the game. Following the injury, Hayward missed eight games before returning to play against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 2017 All-Star played two more games before he was sidelined indefinitely.

Evidently, fans are not impressed with Hayward’s performance. After joining the Hornets, Hayward only played 44 games during the 2020-21 NBA season. The following season, he contributed in 49 games and this year, it seems like Hayward will have to sit out the entire season after playing only 11 games.

Fans troll Michael Jordan for costly decision

Michael Jordan‘s Charlotte Hornets acquired the former Boston Celtics star in 2020. At the time, Gordon Hayward was considered a hot pick and was most likely going to sign with the Indiana Pacers. However, it was then reported that Hayward agreed to a four-year deal with the Hornets that was worth $120 million. Fans were rather confused because Hayward was known to be injury prone. In 2017, Hayward suffered from a fractured ankle five minutes into his very first game with the Boston Celtics. The former Celtics had to sit out the entire season due to the injury.
