NBA superstar Kevin Durant recently revealed how he took the news about Steve Nash. The former NBA player turned coach joined the Brooklyn Nets in 2020. However, it was recently announced that Nash is no longer the coach for the Nets. The news was reported on Tuesday, October 1, 2022. Following the shocking development, the media asked KD to give his thoughts on the matter.

The Brooklyn Nets faced the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night at the Barclays Center. It was the sixth time the team was defeated out of the eight games they played so far. Nets GM Sean Marks broke out the news before the game. Marks said that the decision was made with mutual consent from both Marks and Nash. The pair felt this was the right time to take the step, especially due to the Nets’ poor start in the season. Marks said in a statement that the teams were not performing the way it was supposed to.

“We’ve fallen from our goals, of meeting our goals, and it was time now because we still have lofty aspirations of where we need to get to,” said Marks.

Nash thanked the franchise for giving him an incredible experience and said that he was grateful for everything.

In a post-game interview, a reporter asked Kevin Durant?how he came to know about Steve Nash’s departure from the franchise. Durant replied that at the time, he had just woken up from an afternoon nap. He got to know about it when he watched the news on ESPN. The reporter then asked KD what was the initial reaction he gave after knowing about it. The two-time NBA champion said that he was shocked when he first got to know about it.

“You’re always shocked when a move like this happens but it’s normal in NBA,” said Durant.?Additionally, he said that despite the occurrence, all they could do was get ready for the next game.

Durant added, “So you can’t think too much about it but, you know, it was on the mind for a little bit today.”?
