Zion Williamson is living up to all the hype that has been associated with his name. The Pelicans’ big man is producing bigger numbers than last season and helping the team catch up in the highly competitive Western Conference. 

The Pelicans are 7-10 and trailing at #13 even as Zion is continuously performing well. They most recently defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 131-126 in a game where their first-half dominance helped them claim a narrow victory.

Zanos is averaging close to 24 points this season while scoring at 59% accuracy from the field. A knee injury shortened his last season, but he has come out even stronger after the rehabilitation.

In the first 40 games (24+16) of his career, Zion has now produced 31 games where he scored at least 20 points, which is 77.5% of the total. 

With this, he matched the record of San Antonio Spurs legend and Hall of Famer, David Robinson. Admiral David, after serving the US Navy, started his career at 24 years while Zion is just 20-YO right now. This further shows that Zion has just set the ball rolling before matching and breaking several records. 

Although he failed to beat Michael Jordan’s record here, he will have more chances to show consistency and go past such legendary names. 

Zanos vs the Greek Freak

In the game against the Pelicans, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a 38-point double-double with 2 steals and as many blocks. He received good support from Jrue Holiday, who registered 22 points, but they failed to convert it into victory. The Bucks dominated the 2nd half but could not close the 23-point deficit from the first.

On the other end, the Pelicans’ starting five played as a unit and combined 105 points amongst them. Center Steven Adams looked like the new-age Dennis Rodman with 20 rebounds and helped with the win.

Zion Williamson’s dominance so early in his career is way better than what Giannis achieved in his early years.
