Capital One’s The Match justified all the hype. The matchup of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson versus Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce grabbed most of the headlines over the past week. With an amazing buildup and an even better cause, The Match was an instant classic. Recently, YouTube fame’s Pat McAfee talked about the match and interestingly, he was a huge fan of what Draymond Green was doing while his Golden State Warriors teammates battled it out.

Pat McAfee drops huge praise on Draymond Green

While Curry and Patrick Mahomes took most of the laurels on the turf, it was four-time NBA champion Draymond Green who won the hearts of the internet. After all, he was the certified hype man for his Warriors teammates.

Pat McAfee liked Draymond Green’s latest avatar. The Golden State Warriors icon, who signed a four-year, $100 million deal recently, had a lot of back-and-forth with NFL linebacker Von Miller. While McAfee was full of praise for Green’s antics and Steph’s golfing, he did not let Thompson off the hook as easily. McAfee talked about how Klay Thompson was getting dominated easily.

McAfee said, “Well, Klay Thompson was just getting murdered. I couldn’t hear and understand everything that Von and Draymond were saying, because they were just having their own conversation in the back and I appreciate that. But the things I was hearing them say, pretty hilarious.”

He further added, “I enjoyed Draymond out there, I enjoyed Draymond out there a lot.” Moreover, he added how Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, and Green were all doing their job perfectly, but Miller didn’t really connect with Mahomes and Kelce.

Green and the Chiefs’ stars went at each other

The former Defensive Player of the Year is an elite trash-talker and his skills were on full display during The Match. Kelce and Mahomes took a jab at Green and the Warriors for their 2016 NBA Finals loss against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Green was not one to just sit back. “Y’all over here talking about 3-1, like Joey Burrow ain’t send your a– home a year ago”, said Draymond Green. The Cincinnati Bengals led by Joe Burrow famously beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2021 AFC Championship Game and Green certainly used that to his advantage.
