Due to the Super Bowl, Arizona is jampacked with NFL fans as thousands of attendees gathered to support their favorite team. The game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs took place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale and was attended by several big names from the sports industry as well. Among them was the NBA’s newly crowned all-time scoring leader LeBron James and his wife Savannah. While the majority of fans were thrilled to see ‘King James’ in the stadium, a short clip that is currently doing the rounds on Twitter indicated that not everyone was happy with his presence.

LeBron James recently created history when he dethroned NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the new scoring leader in the NBA. The iconic moment occurred on February 7 during the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder where his total career points tallied to 38,390 against Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387.

Fans come to LeBron James’ rescue

Super Bowl LVII is finally over with the Kansas City Chiefs as the new champions. Superstar QB Patrick Mahomes led his team to victory over Jalen Hurts’ Eagles by a final score of 38-35. Prior to the win, Talkin’ NBA a short video of LeBron James from the match caught fans’ attention that had their ‘protective instincts’ soaring high.

In the video, James, along with his wife Savannah were displayed on the jumbotron where he made the gesture of putting a crown on his head and the caption on the video read, “LeBron gets booed at the Super Bowl”.

The majority of Twitter was seemingly skeptical about the negative reaction from the crowd given that the stadium was pretty loud. Nevertheless, they defended the 4x NBA champion on Twitter. A fan reasoned that the unfriendly reaction was because “Lebron has owned Philly teams and the Suns”.

Here are some more reactions from NBA Twitter:

NBA fans lash out at Anthony Davis

Evidently, the Super Bowl wasn’t the first time LeBron James’ fans got offended on his behalf. When the entire arena erupted in cheers following the record-breaking shot by the 19x NBA All-Star, there was one particular individual who was seated quietly away from the celebrations. While fans and the who’s who from the sports industry congratulated James on the historic day, Anthony Davis chose to stay mum as he remained on the sidelines, watching the celebrations from afar.

Evidently, James’ fans did not take AD’s reaction positively and criticized him for his actions. While Davis possibly had a number of reasons to react in that particular way, it nevertheless did not save him from facing some slack online.
