Dwyane Wade‘s journey to NBA stardom is one of the most awe-inspiring tales that NBA has ever seen. The Chicago native was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2003 becoming one of the most recognizable players of the 2010s. An icon on the court, Wade can be seen as one off it too. Now retired the legend from Vice City is on a quest to become a mogul dedicating his time his time to becoming a businessman. Like many stars before him, Wade looks to build a legitimate business with the money he amassed during his career. The 06 Finals MVP spoke positively of Magic Johnson and Jay-Z as he wished to transition into business similarly like the two.

With Magic investing in the NBA and expanding to other industries Wade seems to be following a similar route. Having attended Harvard Business School and now worth $175 million, Wade has surely started to show his business acumen. Retiring from the league has given him just the right opportunity.

Dwyane Wade on life after the NBA

After spending 16 years in the league Dwyane Wade retired in 2019, bringing an illustrious career to an end. Although many players struggle to transition into a life after the NBA, the Flash has made it look seamless. Just 2 years after retiring, Wade returned to the league as a minority stakeholder of the Utah Jazz and since then has gone on to start various business ventures.

During an appearance on the Shay Shay podcast, D Wade spoke in depth about his life after the NBA and his transition to being a businessman. When asked if he, “Eat, Sleep and Breathes Business,” Wade had this to say: “I do, I don’t play Basketball no more, so my life beside being a parent, father and husband, all these things – business is my life.”

Speaking to Shannon Sharpe, Wade spoke on the difficulties and challenges faced as a businessman. He stated, “The hard part is you want it now. I have seen Magic, I have seen Jay Z. I see them and be, ooh, like Jay just sold his company for a $100 million.”
