Following an ugly brawl between Donovan Mitchell and Dillion Brooks in Thursday night’s game, the NBA world witnessed much severe scrimmage during the Friday night game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Orlando Magic. The on-court altercation led to several ejections from the court. Following the fight, a video clip surfaced on the internet and left NBA fans in disbelief as they flooded the comments with various opinions. 

During the third quarter of the game, Timberwolves guard Austin Rivers and Magic star Mo Bamba engaged in an altercation on the sideline that lead to an ugly fight involving several teammates. Rivers and Bamba were among the five players who the referees ejected after the brawl. However, fans expect the league to slap heavy fines and suspensions on the players.

The reason behind the fight is still unknown, but the altercation seemingly began when the Magic’s big man Mo Bamba threw a punch at Rivers from the Magic bench. After an exchange of punches, teammates quickly got involved. Furthermore, officials stepped in promptly to separate the players. The refs ejected Timberwolves players Taurean Prince and Jaden McDaniels and Orlando’s Jalen Suggs alongside Rivers and Bambo.

After the brawl, the Magic went on to win the game 120-127. Magic players displayed an overall team performance led by Cole Anthony with 20 points off the bench.

Frequent brawls in the NBA this season

The fans witnessed frequent brawls this season after the ugly courtside altercation between NFL legend Shannon Sharpe and Memphis Grizzlies players. Followed by Donovan Mitchell and Dillion Brook’s altercation on Thursday. During the third quarter of the game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Grizzlies, Brooks stumbled near the foul line attempting for a bucket, and Mitchell grabbed the loose ball. However, the duo engaged in an ugly exchange of punches when Brooks hit Mitchell around his groin. The referees ejected Brooks and slapped two fouls on the Cavs star.
