Shortly after reports of Dan Snyder’s decision to sell the Washington Commanders surfaced, speculations surrounding the new possible owner(s) began making rounds on the Internet. It has been several months since the bidding war began, and Snyder’s choice was recently revealed to the world. As per reports, the soon-to-be ex-owner of the Commanders decided to go forth with Josh Harris’ group, which includes Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson. However, a new interested party has now emerged as a threat to Harris and co.’s nearly done deal, with a whopping $7 billion bid.
Several months ago, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Jay Z reportedly held a private meeting to work out a potential partnership to acquire the Commanders. After Bezos pulled out of the bidding war, Harris’ group became the frontrunners in the contention.

Magic Johnson and Josh Harris might lose the Commanders deal
After months of anticipation, Josh Harris’ group was only one sign away from taking over the Washington Commanders for $6 billion. Fans assumed that it was only a matter of time before they officially became the new owners of the NFL team. However, a former NBA star has most likely foiled their plans with his jaw-dropping offer.

According to Darren M. Haynes of WUSA9, 2x NCAA champion Brian Davis had originally placed his $7 billion bid on March 21. After the non-exclusive deal with the Josh Harris group, the Bank of America reportedly reached out to Davis to confirm if his ‘bid could move forward’. Davis replied positively, leaving Snyder’s deal with Harris in question.

Davis’ short-term basketball career in the NBA ended with his one-year stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns during the 1992 NBA Draft, before eventually getting traded to the Timberwolves. Davis played around 68 games with the Wolves before he left the league for good in 1994.

Before entering the league, the ex-NBA star won two NCAA titles with Duke University. Davis currently owns Urban Echo Energy LLC.
Was Davis a former owner of the Grizzlies?
Over a decade after putting an end to his NBA career, Brian Davis and former Wolves teammate Christian Laettner attempted to buy a majority stake from the Grizzlies’ ex-owner Michael Heisley. He reportedly agreed to sell 70% of the stake to the former NBA stars for $360 million in 2006. However, the deal fell through when Davis and Laettner failed to provide the necessary details of the fund within the given deadline.
