Kyrie Irving has been making headlines for a while now. Tonight, he blew everyone’s mind with his game-winning performance for the Brooklyn Nets against the Toronto Raptors at the Scotiabank Arena. With just 3.1 seconds left on the clock, Irving caught the ball from his teammate and made everyone’s jaw drop.

Irving finished the game with 32 points. But it was his clutch three that helped the?Nets?beat the?Raptors and sealed the game 119-116. His buzzer-beater was the icing on the cake for the Nets, as they also successfully made up an 18-point deficit on the night.

NBA Twitter went into a frenzy after witnessing Irving’s game-winning shot. Some fans even mocked the giant sporting apparel company, Nike, and tagged Irving as a “cold-blooded” player.

One user said, “Nike regretting their decision already“. Nike had a long-standing deal with Kyrie Irving, which they cut short earlier this month following Irving’s latest controversy around a link he shared that contained anti-Semitic material in it.

With the ensuing events following his controversial post, it seemed like Kyrie Irving made his bed. Nike went to initially suspend the player, before eventually cutting ties with him altogether. A spokesperson for the company stated, “Kyrie is no longer a Nike athlete“.

Irving showed his “cold-blooded” nature on the court following the announcement. He covered the Nike logo on his shoes during a game and wrote “I am free, thank you God…I am“.

After the game, Kyrie Irving spoke about his last shot and attributed it to “a lot of confidence, team trust and just getting my feet underneath me“. The point guard also credited his father who advised him to get balance while shooting threes. It certainly came off in the game.

He also spoke about how his team made up for the 18 points. “Being mature and staying disciplined“, Irving smiled. He said the team is building “one day at a time, one game at a time“.
