Salaries of stars like Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal will pose a problem

There is officially a new big three in the league. Two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant is getting another shot at adding to his NBA titles whilst being surrounded by superstars. Naturally, this invited a lot of criticism and backlash on social media platforms. The Suns sent the Point God Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, second-round picks, and additional pick swaps to acquire Beal.

Beal is a three-time NBA All-Star and was on the radar of multiple NBA teams for the past few weeks. Beating the likes of the Miami Heat in the race, the Suns made the blockbuster deal happen.

Beal, Durant, and Booker will be earning $50 million each! In fact, they hit the $162 million luxury tax mark with just the three stars and DeAndre Ayton. If they do not reduce the payroll, it might exceed $190 million.

For such reasons, the Suns might possibly have to pay an exorbitant luxury tax for the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season. According to reports, their fine might be in the range of $90 million which is historically high.

Although the Suns acquired Bradley Beal for a steal, the price of fielding such a stacked roster is coming back to haunt them. This also opens the door to a potential DeAndre Ayton trade considering his high $32.5 million salary.

What next for Chris Paul?

Following this blockbuster trade, there have been questions about Chris Paul’s future. After all, the 12 times NBA All-Star still has a few good years left in him and has quite the resume.
