The Warriors are performing better than what many expected of them after the subtraction of Klay Thompson. They are 11-9, sitting at #7 of the WC rankings, and promising at least a bottom entry into the playoffs.

However, in every probability, they are not a unit that can go deeper into the playoffs without the Splash Brothers on the roster. So is it that their title window has closed after that scary 2019-20 season? Or is there a thin ray of light that can still show them the way?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFL Conference Championship, and that ensured a 43-YO Tom Brady would play yet another Super Bowl. Steph Curry is almost 33 right now, and for him to believe that the title window is closed will sound pessimistic.

In a recent interview, he used this analogy and said, “You live in reality, so unless you’re playing quarterback for the Tampa Bay Bucs right now, there’s a fine line between when you’re at your peak and when you need to get the most of yourself on the court.”

Later, he might have hinted at all those NBA teams that have killed their salary caps and future picks to satisfy a ‘win now’ strategy. The 3-time NBA Champion added, “Everybody has an opinion on what win-now moves mean. Who is to say, there’s no guarantee that anything works. It’s a matter of everybody doing their job. That’s from the top down.”

That holds true and the GSW organization witnessed it back in 2014 when Steve Kerr joined them and they worked on a revolutionary strategy that helped them play five back-to-back finals. That was a feat that even Michael Jordan did not achieve with the Bulls.

Even if Steph plays for over five years from here, his peak might not stay with him. Having said that, it is also true that they have their title window very much open. With Klay Thompson’s entry in the next season, their power forward in Draymond Green, an athletic center in James Wiseman, and a Wingman in Andrew Wiggins, the GSW is still a strong core.

Also, imagine if someone like Bradley Beal joins the team to give that Kevin Durant boost? The window will then become a door in no time.

But Curry’s eyes are set on this current season as he further said, “You live in that reality and also have to kind of a temperature check on some of the bigger agenda things that might be brewing. But at the end of the day, my job is to go play and figure out how to get our team where we need to be this year, get the best seeding in the playoffs and see what happens.”
