NBA legend Charles Barkley and Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant had a back-and-forth on Twitter a while ago. Things escalated when Barkley called Kevin Durant a ‘Bus Rider’ instead of a ‘Bus Driver,’ regarding his two NBA championships. And now, Barkley has backed up his words while on an interview with Taylor Rooks.

A couple of months ago, Charles Barkley did not hold back while on the show, ‘Inside The NBA’. Further giving his two cents on Kevin Durant. Talking to Taylor Rooks on Bleacher Report’s YouTube Channel, Barkley gave a clear-cut explanation.

Charles Barkley did not mince his words

Apparently, Kevin Durant had a question for ‘Sir Charles’ that he got to ask via the host, Rooks. She told Barkley that Durant had a question for him and then proceeded to ask him, “Is money your only motive in life?”

To that, he said, “I actually like Kevin. I think that he’s a great player, I think he’s actually a good dude. I think he’s insecure at times. Because I think, you have to realize sometimes criticism, like I told you before, sometimes criticism are fair.”

“He got mad at me because, and it doesn’t bother me because my point was, you know there’s a really big difference between being the bus driver than the bus rider,” added Barkley. He then went on to point out a few things a team leader has to pay attention to.

The team’s leader has to deal with the stress of not winning games, the stress of keeping the locker room together, and so on. A quality Barkley felt that Kevin Durant does not possess.

Kevin Durant may need to prove himself as a leader

Barkley pointed out a few things he thought pushed Kevin Durant’s buttons. Durant apparently loses his cool when legends like Barkley state that he has to win an NBA championship without the Golden State Warriors. Barkley did not mince his words as he said, “I know he got offended by that. But that’s not my job to worry about people’s feelings.” Clearly, Barkley was untethered.

According to Charles, in order to get the same amount of respect as other NBA greats, Durant has to win a championship on his own. Like how Kobe Bryant won a championship without the help of Shaquille O’Neal. Or LeBron James winning a championship without the help of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

So it may be time for Durant to let his actions speak rather than his words, or his tweets for that matter.
