Having spent two years in a penal colony, former inmate Nadya Tolokonnikova talked about what awaits Griner. According to her, Griner should avoid working at sweatshops. They have outdated machinery which sometimes ends up injuring the inmates.
Tolokonnikova said, “What I would suggest to Brittney if I could [would be] to not work at the sweatshops. You might think for a second that if I’m gonna follow the rules, then my life is gonna be better, but in fact, those conditions are horrific.”
Griner will have to spend nine long and hard years in the infamous prison. Her only hope remains a prisoner swap deal. Moscow and Washington officials have negotiated a swap deal for months now. However, no concrete resolutions have not yet been reported.
