However, fans slammed Simmons for his contentment with his score. Some users were unimpressed with his apparent warning shot. Many others pointed out the double entendre of his statement.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

Many fans were referring to Kevin Durant and his demand to be traded during the off-season. In his own words, KD said he had requested a trade because he didn’t like the team’s preparation. He wanted more practice and the absence of such from the franchise compelled him to take that stance. He also admitted that no other player was on the same page as him.

The Nets are happy and hopeful for Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons has seemingly impressed both KD and head coach, Jacque Vaughn. Both of them lauded the player for playing well. Durant described Simmons’ game as “incredible” and complimented his rhythm. Vaughn said this was what the team had “envisioned” for him. He added that the guard’s play has been “very encouraging”.

Prior to this, Simmons had missed five games owing to a left ankle sprain. Simmons confessed that the injuries have indeed been setbacks, but it has been a part of his journey. He said that he has been doing whatever possible to get back to the game. “The one thing with me is that I am a competitor. I want to win and play. So I’m gonna do what I can to get out there,” he added.
