Kyle Kuzma’s Washington Wizards beat the New Orleans Pelicans in a 113-103 point game. The victory marked the Wizards’ fourth straight win while the Pelicans’ agony continued, with this being their seven straight loss. For the Wizards, 7 out of the 9 players bagged points in the double digits. The Pelicans stumbled through the game despite Brandon Ingram’s 22 and CJ McCollum’s 24. While the Wizards had a smooth journey through the game, the Pelicans were left short-handed when their star Jonas Valanciunas was ejected. This ejection left a heavier dent on the team considering the absence of their injured star Zion Williamson.

During the second quarter of the game, Jonas Valanciunas dribbled in the paint while scheming a move to make a shot. The Wizards’ defender, Taj Gibson, stayed on Valanciunas back – making life difficult for the 7ft center. Following this, the two came in contact when Valanciunas elbowed the 13-year NBA star on the head. A foul was called as Gibson reeled in pain. Upon review, the officials made the call to eject Valanciunas. As per ESPN, the “officials ruled it a Flagrant-2 foul.” Clips of this series of events spread across social media platforms, making fans weigh in on this incident.

In the last quarter of the game, the Pelicans were down by 16 points when they went on a 10-0 run. The momentum was moments away from switching sides when the Wizards took control with Bradley Beal’s layup. From then on, the Pelicans struggled to get close to the Wizards. The Wizards, who recently traded Rui Hachimura to the Lakers, are now 10th in the Eastern Conference.
