The NBA has seen some of the most dramatic and controversial seasons unfold this year. The incidents that have occurred and made the news are in no sense common or regular. So, when you have the NBA’s commissioner Adam Silver sitting in front of you, you’re bound to ask some questions about that drama. The NBA’s beloved giant Shaquille O’Neal did just that when he had the opportunity to talk to Silver.

Although it might have been just out of curiosity, Shaq put Silver in a spot with his question about one of the finest young talents in the NBA. The commissioner responded to the difficult question with very carefully worded sentences.

The 4x NBA champion is known for speaking his mind, although this time Shaq was asking the questions and the NBA’s commissioner was the one answering them. The question was about Ja Morant and his most recent controversy.

Morant is now infamous for his antics off the field. As much talent as he has, Morant hasn’t been in the news this year for the right reasons. One after the other, his series of detrimental conduct has unfolded in front of the world and the NBA has been left with no other option but to sit him out. At the moment, the 23-year-old remains suspended from the league till further notice.

A few months ago, the Memphis Grizzlies star was suspended due to his firearms incident. He then came out and apologized to everyone, especially his family for letting them down. But what looked like a learning curve for the young talent initially quickly turned into something ugly. Once again Morant was caught in another incident involving firearms.

This time flashing it on Instagram Live while he was driving around with his friends, he was suspended from the league and is still awaiting a decision on his fate.

The NBA announced that in light of the ongoing finals, they will reveal their decision on Morant after the conclusion of the season.

This was done to ensure that the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets get all the deserved attention and nothing else takes the limelight. Shaq recently asked Silver about their decision to withhold the announcement and his thoughts on the recent controversy. Silver said, “It wasn’t that difficult. They [the players association] agreed on behalf of these players. That shouldn’t be the focus of attention going into the finals,” Silver added.
