Russell Westbrook continues to receive the spotlight since his trade to the Utah Jazz. After being called a ‘vampire’ by an ESPN host, Westbrook received widespread support from various NBA superstars and especially from his wife Nina. After the Lakers drama, sources tell that there are chances the veteran guard could move to the Los Angeles Clippers. However, a recent report reveals, the trade might not happen.

Even after the NBA trade deadline, talks for Russell Westbrook continue around the league. Considering what he brings to the team, fans believe there are chances he will be moved to the Clippers, although the team’s president reportedly stands as an objection.

The Clippers have left the point-guard slot open, after trading Reggie Jackson to the Charlotte Hornets for Mason Plumlee. Moreover, they also traded their main PG John Wall back to the Houston Rockets. Though many believe Russell Westbrook might be a perfect spot for the open slot, Clippers president Lawrence Frank apparently does not believe so.

In a recent tweet from a beat writer of the LA Clippers, Frank and the team are supposedly looking for a ‘true point guard’. The Clippers are in need of a player who is good off the ball and has great shooting.

In addition to the Clippers, the Miami Heat are also said to be in talks for acquiring the 2017 MVP. The Heat have been in continuous talks to find a spot for their veteran guard, Kyle Lowry. Both teams are eyeing the guard, although Westbrook has reportedly shown interest in the second LA team.

Paul George in talks to recruit Westbrook

Veteran guard Paul George seems to be involved in recruiting Westbrook for Clippers. Both the stars had played together for the Oklahoma City Thunder before the former got traded. George and Westbrook reached the playoffs in 2019 with OKC. However, Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers sent them home in the first round.

Now Paul George is possibly looking for an OKC reunion with Westbrook in LA. Westbrook will be expected to play the exact same role as Reggie Jackson. Though there is a lot of difference in the play style of Westbrook and Jackson, the former can be of great use for the Clippers. Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Westbrook could be the next ‘big three’ if the Jazz guard decides to join the Clippers.
