Parsons comes to the aid of James Harden after a difficult season

Harden started off really slow this year, and it seemed like the new rule changes affected him. He wasn’t able to get the calls he had been getting for the last few years, and this frustrated him. And he also lost that quick first step that made him so lethal. Defenders could keep up with Harden and sometimes they made him uncomfortable as well.

And then his troubles in Brooklyn started. Harden was unhappy with where the team was headed and he requested a trade. He was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on the trade deadline. There he formed a new superstar duo with Joel Embiid and Harden seemed to have adopted a new role – that of a distributor. He used to score here and there, but he generated easy buckets for his teammates.

But come to the playoffs, his effect started waning. The Sixers also lost Embiid to injury, so the onus fell on Harden. But he failed to deliver, and the Sixers were bounced out of the playoffs. Harden has a player option next year, but there has been no news of a contract extension. He will have one shot to deliver next year or his hopes of a new contract are gone.
