Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant recently found himself neck-deep in a pool of controversies. It all began when reports of the 23-year-old basketball star and his friends allegedly threatening people came to light last month. This came in just days before the gun controversy that led to his suspension from the team. Following that, several sports legends advised Morant to make better friends and ‘get rid’ of his current circle. While Morant is currently focused on his game, a recent video on the Internet has ended up resurfacing his friends’ ‘reckless’ behavior on the occasion of his 23rd birthday.

With a guaranteed spot in the upcoming playoffs, the Grizzlies only need to perform well in four more games before they move one step closer to postseason glory. Currently the No. 2 seed in Western Conference, the team has steadily maintained its spot among the top contending teams this season with a record of 49-29.

Ja Morant’s thoughtful gesture costs him thousands of dollars

In a recent video posted by REBOUND, a months-old incident came to light that ended up damaging Ja Morant’s precious possession. During his 23rd birthday, Morant decided to lend his relatively new Rolls-Royce Cullinan to his friends, after their repeated entreaties, and they took it for a spin.

Hours later, a Snapchat clip showed his friends taking a video of the car while one of them drove it recklessly in circles. Following that, Morant shared a video of his wrecked car on his Instagram stories. The $400,000 worth of car had several significant scratches and a detached back bumper. His caption read, “smh. thought mfs make ya birthday good ???”?

ClutchPoints reshared the short clip and termed it as a ‘rough start’ to his 23rd birthday. However, Morant surprisingly had an entirely different approach to the entire situation.

He responded to the tweet and wrote, nah it’s still going smooth i hopped in the other rolls today to feel presidential & IM ALIVE. the car replaceable.” Morant certainly has the money to not care about a $400k car being damaged.

Sports veterans’ advise to the Grizzlies star

When Ja Morant’s gun controversy blew up the NBA world, Phoenix Suns legend Charles Barkley was among the ones who felt that Morant needed to surround himself with better people. Additionally, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson‘s dad Mychal gave his thought on the matter in an episode of the Murph and Mac podcast. He stated that Morant needed to ‘Get rid of your crew, get rid of the people around you, keep your inner circle tight’.

Furthermore, he added, “Your father, your sister, your mother, your family, and watch the people around you. You have to get rid of the people around you because they obviously do not care about you if they let you put yourself in this kind of situation. They don?t care about you.”
