The Los Angeles Clippers managed to pull off a stunning upset against the Kevin Durant-led Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of the first round. The Suns are the fan favorites to win it all and were expected to take down the Clippers with ease. However, things turned around on Phoenix as Los Angeles managed to catch them and even the fans off guard, taking Game 1, that too, without one of their prominent star players, Paul George.

The short-handed Los Angeles Clippers really did defeat the star-studded Phoenix Suns team. Since the addition of Kevin Durant to the roster, the Suns have been perceived as unbeatable. But it looks like the Clippers changed that notion quickly.

Despite an amazing all-around performance for the Suns’ starting lineup, the game still got out of hand for the team. The game ended with a final score of 115-110, even after respectable scoring numbers from Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.

However, it wasn’t the performance from the Suns that surprised everyone but the grit and hustle of the Clippers instead. Winning a game against Phoenix without Paul George. Even though the Clippers did not have ‘PG-13’ in the lineup, the roster made the most of their nine-man rotation. Kawhi Leonard led the way with a 38-point performance. He even hit two back-to-back threes late in the fourth that increased the gap between the two teams.

Whereas Russell Wetbrook’s contributions were clearly evident on the defensive end of the floor as he smothered any player he went up against and made multiple highlight reel plays late in the fourth.
