Recently, in an interview, the Big Diesel slammed Artificial Intelligence by pointing out its flaws from a businessowner’s perspective.

Shaquille O’Neal disapproves of AI technology.

The Lakers legend is a brand ambassador for an auto insurance company called The General, which is the same group he got his own insurance from when he was still a college athlete at LSU. The insurance group is undergoing changes and beginning a new campaign called “The Break” in an attempt to offer their consumers help in their time of need. The campaign is also a reference to the docuseries of the same name, narrated by Shaq.

The campaign for the brand’s new changes is reflected in their commercial, showcasing some iconic memes. In his interview with AdAge, Shaq addressed the use of memes and quality graphics generated using AI technology. To put it succinctly, he is not a fan.

While the Big Fella encouraged the use of AI as a tool for inspiring and boosting creativity in his team, he strongly disapproved any kind of dependence on it. Shaq stated in the interview that, “One thing about artificial intelligence is if it comes up with a commercial that bombs, it’s not going to get blamed—you are.”

Therefore, he pointed out the demerits of blind reliance on AI. Shaq’s goal is to make the new The General mascot as memorable as Mickey Mouse.
