The 2023 NBA playoffs have lived up to expectations with an enthralling start to the postseason. Although there are still a few games remaining to decide all the participants for round 2, the playoffs have hardly put a foot wrong. Among the many nail-biters, the Sacramento Kings-Golden State Warriors series is turning out to be one to witness. Following an absolutely cracking game 5 in Sacramento, Warriors star Draymond Green sent fans into a frenzy with his comments about the image he’s built for himself in the league.

Green’s fearless attitude has made him the centerpiece of many eventful situations on the court, including the infamous ‘stomping incident’ in Game 2 in Sacramento. Needless to say, he isn’t the favorite for the Sacramento Crowd.

The Warriors star has also had an eventful start to the postseason. From being ejected in Game 2 against the Kings to leading the series at the end of Game 5, Green has had a rollercoaster ride in the playoffs.

Him calling out the Kings’ fans after his ejection was an iconic image of the series. Hence, in the Game 5 post-game press conference, Green was asked about how he felt being the “villain” in Sacramento with the crowd constantly booing him. The Warriors no. 23 answered back in just a few words with a calm demeanor.

“I don’t go chasing after some villain title. Being a villain is no fun,” said Green. He added, “… but I’m also never ducking any smoke.” 

The Warriors star’s comments implied how he didn’t aim to rile up the Sacramento crowd in the series, but didn’t back down when the crowd came at him. His attitude toward the crowd and the game helped the team take a lead against the Kings, who were an absolute nightmare for the Warriors at the start of the series.

Green was suspended for Game 3 of the series, which was the first of their three consecutive wins. However, since Green’s return, fans have been overjoyed with his performance, particularly on Wednesday night. In addition, his comments have attracted a lot of fans who feel that Green has been backing up his words with his performance.

Draymond Green has been in the crosshairs of the Sacramento fans since the ‘stomping incident’. Hence, when Green and Co. walked onto the court, their poor away record was the least of their worries while facing the Kings at their home. However, after the game, Green revealed how he was able to overcome the unfriendly atmosphere in the Golden 1 Center, only to be showered with praise from fans on Twitter.
