The Golden State Warriors did not have the best start to the season, which led to them falling behind in the West. However, Dubnation was able to pick up the pace and go on a couple of big winning streaks to improve their overall record. While the recent injury to their leading scorer, Stephen Curry has put a damper on their plans for this season, it does not look like the rest of the Warriors’ roster has left any stones unturned as Klay Thompson went off in Curry’s absence.

Curry suffered an unfortunate leg injury during the Warriors’ win against the Dallas Mavericks on February 4. Since then, Curry has been ruled out of the Warriors’ lineups. So, it was up to the rest of the team to pick up the pace.

In their game against the Houston Rockets, the other half of the ‘Splash Brothers’, Klay Thompson made sure to give the fans some hope for the season. Thompson went off for an insane 12 three-pointers, setting a new NBA record in the process. Thompson now holds the record of the most games with 12+ three-pointers in league history.

During the post-game interview, Thompson made sure to let everyone know what motivated him to go off in this game. He said, “When I had that 11th one, I wanted to get that 12th so bad. So I could actually have a record, one more record than Steph has. He got all the three-point records so, that one felt good.”

Even fans on YouTube took notice of Thompson’s friendly and competitive nature with Stephen Curry. One fan dropped a comment, “Klay and Steph always try to 1up each other, I think that makes them better shooters coz they are competitive with each other.”

Fans on Twitter couldn’t help but react to Thompson’s record-setting performance against the Rockets. One fan tweeted, “As an honest lakers fan I have to admit that I’m terrified of the Warriors and they look unbeatable.”

While another fan commented, “This is more impressive than those 60pt games where guys shoot 30FTs. Good sh*t Klay.”

Here are a few more reactions from fans on Twitter.

A lot of fans in the comments section gave Thompson his flowers after many had said that he was washed out and beyond his prime.

Stephen Curry doesn’t hold all the 3-point records

Klay Thompson wanted to make sure he had this record for the books. His teammate and other half of the ‘Splash Brothers’ duo, Stephen Curry has his name attached to most of the three-point records. However, Klay’s performance ensured that his name was in the record books as well.

This outing against the Rockets made Klay the first and only player in NBA history to have 12+ three-pointers in multiple games during a single season as well. The number of players that have four-plus games with more than 10 threes this season is only Klay Thompson. No other player has more than one.
