76ers’ Ben Simmons Opens Up About Hearing His Name in the James Harden Trade Rumors

When James Harden requested a trade during the offseason, many teams showed interest in the former MVP. However, among those teams, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets were believed to be the frontrunners. Furthermore, the Beard also named these two franchises as his preferred locations to play.

Well, Harden ended up being traded to the Nets to form a super-team. But the day Harden’s trade news broke, the Rockets were also in talks with the Sixers. Unfortunately, the 76ers backed out from the deal as Houston wanted a package around All-NBA guard Ben Simmons.

While Simmons is still a member of the Sixers, hearing trade rumors about yourself is never a good thing. However, the 24-year-old handled the situation pretty well and talked about his resolution as the rumors have finally settled down. He said:

This is a business. Things like that happen. The only thing I can control is how I approach my workouts, the games, and my day to day things. I’m just trying to be professional and do the right thing and help my team get wins.”

The 76ers are off to a tremendous start this season and losing Simmons could have disrupted their team’s chemistry. In a way, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for both Ben Simmons and the 76ers.

Due to the recent trade rumors, the common guess would be that Simmons is unhappy. But that is not the case as upon being asked if he is happy in Philadelphia, Ben Simmons said, “Of course.”
