This situation tensions Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers has been turning into another James Harden and Houston Rockets situation. After their poor outing in the last season, Simmons was at the center of all the criticism. Everybody was pretty certain that Ben will be saying his goodbyes to the franchise in the offseason. But instead, there have been a lot of twists and turns in this story. With the media involving Joel Embiid as one of the reasons for Simmons wanting to leave has surely pissed Embiid off and this is how he took it out.

At first, it seemed like Philly will eagerly ship Ben Simmons this offseason, after their unexpected early exit. In fact, everyone was certain of it. But the Sixers have been pretty adamant so far about the kind of deal they want in return for their point guard. Ever since their over-the-top deal with the Golden State Warriors fell apart, nothing else has come to fruition. And then, everything hit the ceiling.

A report about Simmons openly asking to be traded and declaring he will not be showing up for training camp was the first sign of things blowing out of proportion. And eventually, Embiid was dragged into the conversation. There were rumors about Embiid being unhappy with Ben and that they were having problems with one another even before their playoff exit. However, Joel has come out to set the record straight.

The Philadelphia 76ers are left with no choice but to eventually find a way to trade him. Because if he does do as he says, not showing up to training camp will do them no good. With the interests of Minnesota Timberwolves rising in Simmons, only time will tell if a deal is struck or not.
