PHOTOS: Brittney Griner’s Wife Meets President Joe Biden

The Brittney Griner saga has been going on for months now. Even the President of the United States and his government have been involved now and they have been negotiating with the Russian authorities. Reports suggest that the government is committed to getting Griner back home safe and sound. And they even showed that they are behind them by inviting Griner’s wife to meet with President Joe Biden.

A few months ago, the government released a statement that they are in contact with Russia. According to reports, they have even offered a prisoner swap program for Griner and another American citizen who is in prison in Russia. It was also reported that the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, had a conversation with his Russian counterpart, foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.

Joe Biden meets with Brittney Griner’s wife Cherelle Griner

As a commitment to the cause, the White House invited Griner’s wife and Paul Whelan’s sister to the Oval Office. They held separate meetings, and they reiterated that they are doing everything and utilizing every avenue to get both of them back.

Griner’s wife went on Instagram and thanked the president. She said, “I want to thank President Biden for yesterday’s meeting as well as the Administration for its efforts to secure my wife’s release. It was an honor to speak with him directly about the Brittney we know and love. I’ve felt every minute of the grueling seven months without her. I look forward to the day my wife is back home.”

According to reports, the US government is negotiating with Moscow regarding a potential prisoner swap deal. This gives hope to the families that their release is not far away. However, experts say it’s far from done. They suggest that this may go on for a while now. Especially in light of the conflict in Ukraine. But their families should be encouraged, especially after their visit with the president.
