Michael Jordan’s father was a big inspiration to him. Without his father’s motivation, Jordan could have never become a pro and became one of the greatest of all time. Hence, when his father died on the 23rd of July 1993, it broke him. He won his third successive NBA title just a month before but then had to face the biggest loss of all. The loss of a parent.
The incident became a subject of lurid conspiracy theories later on. Michael Jordan was a gambling addict and had many debts he had to pay. Therefore, many theorized that Jordan’s father died due to those debts.

Later on, the accused Larry Demery and Daniel Green admitted that they inadvertently killed Jordan Sr to steal the red Lexus SC400. The victim’s body was found 60 miles away in a swamp near McColl, South Carolina. The killers shot him in the chest and took the car away.
The authorities found them after they used a phone in Jordan’s father’s car. It was linked to two robberies. The killers admitted it was a random act of violence. Infamous gambler James “Slim” Bouler was also asked about the killers by Jordan’s people. He said that he didn’t know who it was because he was under lock and key.
“Getting back to Jordan’s father,” says Bouler, “I can’t tell you yesterday or tomorrow. I don’t know anything about that. You know it’s a bad situation when anybody loses a life.” Bouler also revealed that prison was a learning experience for him.
He stated, “I’m getting a thorough education of different forms and ways of people, how they live. You get more in prison than you will get in four years of college.”
