The 54th NAACP Image Awards honored actress Gabrielle Union and NBA legend Dwyane Wade with the President’s Award. During the event, they gave a speech that touched many people’s hearts. The Wade Family Foundation was founded by the couple together, and they have assisted many communities through this organization.

The foundation is dedicated to helping marginalized communities. Furthermore, a sustainable baby care brand has also been created by the couple. As well as that, they also contributed to the children’s book Shady Baby, which focused on their daughter Kaavia.

Black transgender and LGBTQ communities were the focus of Wade’s powerful acceptance speech. “I am intentional when I use my platform. I recognize what I have been given and it is my job to uplift the voices of others and share my access and resources,” Wade explained.
