LeBron James is one of the longest-tenured players in NBA history. James has been in the NBA for 18 seasons so far. What is more amazing is that he has been a regular All-Star and MVP contender for 17 of those 18 seasons. Even at age 36, James continues to prove he is one of the greatest ever. And now, he holds a distinct record once again, albeit not of his own creation.

However, while the trading card sold for a lot of money, it still pales in comparison to James’ rookie card. LeBron James’ rookie trading card, which included a piece of his 2003-04 Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, was sold last year in an auction for a record $1.8 million. It is the most expensive trading card to be sold in an online auction.

James’ 2004-05 season was one of his best. After an incredible rookie season, where he won the Rookie of the Year accolade, James had a significant leap in performances. He became an All-Star for the first time in his career and has been an All-Star since. Furthermore, he was the runner-up in the MVP race that season, finishing behind eventual winner Steve Nash.

James has had a legendary career so far. To many, he is considered one of the top-two greatest players of all-time, alongside Michael Jordan. Given how much pressure and scrutiny James was under when he came to the NBA, it is a big surprise how well he has done. Once dubbed ‘The Chosen One’, James lived up to and even defied many expectations with his career so far.

Can LeBron James add another NBA championship to his resume this season? The Lakers came into the season as heavy favorites to retain their NBA title. However, the injury to Anthony Davis has derailed their momentum. The Lakers will hope that Davis can return soon, so he can let James rest, going into the playoffs this season.
