Jordan was a worldwide sensation, especially in the 1990s, when he brought a craze to the NBA and beyond. In his role as one of the greatest payers of all time, his contract with Nike set an unsurpassed standard.

A Nike executive once spoke about how Jordan changed the entire industry when he signed Jordan in 1984. “Michael,” he told Sports Illustrated, “opened every marketing dollar in the world for every future athlete.” This increased the level of competition both on the basketball court and in the marketing industry.

Currently, a photo of Jordan promoting a beauty brand back in those days is going viral on social media. The rare photo shows NBA legend Jordan modeling for a hair care beauty product known as “Ultra Star hair care beauty product.”

Michael Jordan made a significant impact on the marketing industry

Through his performances in the NBA and the brand endorsements that MJ had throughout his career, Jordan has earned a considerable net worth. His current net worth is estimated to be around $1.7 billion, of which he earned $90 million throughout his basketball career. 

His name appeared on Forbes‘ 2022 Billionaires List as one of the richest athletes in the world. According to Business Insider, he also made $100 million a year from Nike royalties through endorsements.

Michael Jordan’s eye is always on the prize, as he is always striving for success. He once said“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot…and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

During that time, Michael Jordan modeled for many brands, including Nike, Gatorade, Chevrolet, McDonald’s, Ball Park Franks, Rayovac, Wheaties, and many more. It was quite interesting nonetheless to see him promoting a beauty brand as well.
