LeBron James is marching towards breaking NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of NBA’s all-time regular season points made. On this prestigious journey, earlier in the week, James went past the Los Angeles Lakers legend on another list. With the regular season and playoff points put together, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has a total of 44,149 points and was leading this list. However, now, he has taken the back seat since King James currently has a total of 44,152 points.
This stat and moment called for celebration but the lack of media buzz around this news left fans startled. They jumped online to vent while bringing Stephen Curry into the narrative.

NBA Twitter left divided after pointing out the bias between James and Curry
In December 2021, Stephen Curry overtook Ray Allen to become the player with the most three-pointers in the regular season. His triumph was celebrated like a festival while the media’s focus was all over him and his family. Several tribute articles were written and videos of his achievement were released. With this in mind, fans were upset that LeBron James hasn’t received any attention for his feat. They took to Twitter to express their displeasure.
Fans were quick to state that since the 18-time All-Star is hated by many, he is being given zero attention. They were upset with the standards and guts of media organizations across the sports industry. In general, fans believed that LeBron is not given the respect he deserves. Here are some reactions:

It’s because it’s regular season and playoffs combined. Not everyone gets to play as many playoff games cause they aren’t all guaranteed to make it. But regular season is 82 games for everyone so it’s easier to celebrate regular season things, it’s a little more consistency.

Simple. Playoff formats were different. Jabbar played a majority of time without a quarter finals and when they were first implemented, it was best of 3, then 5 but never 7.

However, some fans tried to find a middle ground and stated that with the regular season and playoff three-pointers put together when Curry went past Allen, no one celebrated it. They claimed that this combination cannot be considered because the rules of the game at the playoffs level have changed.

LeBron James on personal records
LeBron James is just a few hundred points away from surpassing Kareem Abdul Jabbar. However, with his winning mindset, these personal achievements mean nothing to King James. He said, “I don’t like having accomplishments, and they don’t feel right when it comes to a losing effort.”

While having the tag of the most points scored in the league associated with his name, James wants to focus on the journey he was built for, the journey of winning. Wins are something that hasn’t come easy for him this season as the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled to find a smooth surface. With that said, if the four-time finals MVP remains healthy while also maintaining the 29.1 points average, he might become the leader of the NBA’s all-time regular season points list next month.
