Kyrie Irving lends support to Ja Morant

Kyrie Irving has been through a lot in the past few seasons. Initially, it was his stance to not take the COVID-19 vaccine that caused him to miss out on many games because of the COVID-19 rules that were in place. Then, he was scrutinized when he shared a link to an anti-Semitic movie on his social media handle. Subsequently, he had to face repercussions for his actions. He was suspended by the Nets and Nike cut their ties with Irving. However, things have now finally calmed down after Irving joined the Dallas Mavericks. Now, Kyrie has shown his support to Ja Morant amidst the gun controversy.

The eight-time NBA All-Star took to Instagram Live and shared his thoughts about the issue. Irving was seen with a burning sage in his hand as he prayed for everyone. He then noted that everyone makes mistakes, but he is not happy about the way celebrities are treated for their mistakes. He said, “We all make mistakes. We all do things that we?ll regret. Recently, there were allegations that the two-time All-Star punched a teenager. Additionally, there was an investigation held after several Indiana Pacers players and staff claimed one of Morant’s associates pointed a laser, which could have been from a gun, at them.

Fans unhappy with Irving’s comments

Despite all this, Kyrie chose to show his support for Ja Morant. Furthermore, Morant received his signature shoe from Nike after the brand dropped Irving. However, that did not stop Uncle Drew from supporting a fellow NBA star. But most fans are not impressed with Irving’s words and expressed their frustration. Here are some reactions:

Most fans wondered how the rules are different for celebrities. The fans felt any regular person working a regular job will face similar consequences if they did what Morant did. On the other hand, some fans stated that the rules are different for celebrities because lots of children are looking up to them.
