REPORT: 10x NBA All-Star Moving From Lakers to Knicks Is “On the Table”, Claim Sources

According to reports, Carmelo Anthony has just one season remaining in the NBA as he turns 39 next season. In addition, there are rumors he wants to spend his last year with the New York Knicks. 

Ian Begley of SNY said the New York Knicks can be a great place for him to settle down. As he was discussing this, he mentioned that there wasn’t any valid information that he heard that said it could be done.

Adding to this, he also mentioned that it could be possible because there is no information about it not getting done either. The Knicks have been very active this off-season making changes to their team. It appears they are getting ready for next season after extending Mitchell Robinson and signing Jalen Brunson from the Dallas Mavericks

Begley added: My understanding at least, going back more than a year now, is the idea that if Carmelo wanted to come back and especially have his final year in the NBA here, my understanding is that was on the table, and I haven’t heard anything about that being off the table.” 

Is NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony going to the Knicks in his final season?

As a result of this conversation, the NBA world is going crazy. Particularly when talking about the player’s age, as he has arguably gone past his prime.

Additionally, Begley said that he is not certain whether the New York Knicks want this or not but that this conversation was there a year ago. Carmelo Anthony was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2003, before joining the Knicks in 2011. After this, the Oklahoma City Thunder signed him in 2017.

Regarding the 2021-22 season of the NBA, that was arguably Anthony’s worst. For the Los Angeles Lakers, he averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. After the Lakers’ disappointing season, a lot has been happening, as there are possible trades involving Anthony Davis. Not only that, but Russell Westbrook has decided to opt into the final year of his contract with the Lakers.
