Following a mind-blowing move to the Los Angeles Lakers on the day of the 2021 NBA Draft, Russell Westbrook is all set to play for a fourth franchise in four years. The guard has not been in the best of touch off late, and will look to change that when he teams up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Even before Frank Vogel’s side have assumed responsibilities for the upcoming campaign, the trio of stars have reportedly met and discussed the team setup. As the Lakers go on their bid for another title, a key factor will be the roles played by the attackers.

The hype around the Lakers’ new trio is increasing by the minute. People cannot wait to see the three great players on the court together. However, LeBron and co. will have to find the right balance in the side to succeed. As of now, the position played by each man leaves the side in a spot of bother.

It is no secret that all three concerned players are not the best when it comes to shooting from long range. If they fail to adapt quickly, they will cramp up the floor space. Hence, they will need to shift positions and find a quality guard for the threes. In a marvellous revelation, however, LeBron and Davis have apparently committed to changing their positions to make the offense work. If things pan out well, the Lakers may well have the solution to their issues.

Star Lakers duo willing to adapt so that Westbrook fits in

According to a source, star trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook recently met up at James’ house to discuss a union. The main focus was to team up for the betterment of the team, and aim to bring the trophy home. As reported by Brad Turner of the LA Times, all three men were willing to make sacrifices for the greater good.

“Westbrook talked about how his only intention was winning and coming back home to Los Angeles to become a champion. James and Davis talked about the two of them changing positions if that was best for the team – James moving from small forward to power forward, and Davis from power forward to center.” This would open up the court more, and help accomodate Westbrook. And the former Wizards guard also followed suit, admitting to his flexibility. “Westbrook let James and Davis know he doesn’t mind playing off the ball when James initiates the offense, something he did while playing alongside James Harden with the Houston Rockets.”

All said and done, it is one thing to plan the mode of action, and another thing to execute it. Before the new season, the Lakers will look to fill the voids in the setup. Yet, if everything clicks for them, we can all expect another NBA Championship heading to Los Angeles.
