Tracy McGrady did not plan to be a basketball player
Recently, on an episode of the Knuckleheads podcast, Tracy McGrady shared how his life would have looked completely different. The Hall of Famer admitted that he did not want to play basketball in his childhood and loved baseball more.
“When I was younger, man, I started baseball at five. That was my favorite sport. Even in my NBA career, it was still my favorite sport. I played football when I was 8 years old. I didn’t really start playing basketball till I was like 19 years old. But it was because I was bullied. I got older cousins, a neighborhood full of guys, and I used to just stand around and watch… because it wasn’t my sport,” Tracy shared.

Having that opportunity to play against older guys and more experienced guys when I was coming up in my childhood really gave me the competitive nature that I had.”
