The Miami Heat are currently in 12th position in the Eastern Conference. Losing five out of the seven games played so far, they now have a 2-5 record. And it seems like a few NBA legends are already taking shots at the Heat. Boston Celtics legends Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett had a few thoughts about the Miami Heat team this season. And that did not sit well with Heat veteran Udonis Haslem.

On Kevin Garnett’s podcast ‘KG Certified’, Pierce and Garnett dismissed the Miami Heat as a title contender this season. Pierce felt that Heat center Bam Adebayo has been fairly inconsistent so far, whereas Tyler Herro has been the most reliable player on the team.

Garnett had some views on All-Star Jimmy Butler as well. KG said, “I’m supposed to wait 82 games to see if Jimmy Butler gonna give me something like some 36s, some 40s, some 45s? He doesn’t even look like he has that type of energy to do some s**t like that.”

Currently, Jimmy Butler is leading the team in scoring, averaging 21.3 points per game while Bam Adebayo has been able to hold down the paint.

Pierce and Garnett claimed, “It’s just, it’s over. Their window‘s closing,” referring to Miami Heat’s chances at an NBA championship this season. Time will tell whether the two Celtics legends are right or not, but Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem certainly does not think so.

Haslem had some strong words for the Boston Celtics legends in return. He said, “No matter what you say, it won’t change that a** whooping y’all took back in the day!!! I know a lot about windows closing cause we slammed y’all sh*t and locked y’all suckas out forever ever!!! #L7 #6gamesinyallalreadyhating”.

Here are some fan reactions to Haslem’s comments from NBA Twitter:

Fans clearly took shots at Haslem’s contribution to the Miami Heat’s two consecutive championships in 2012 and 2013.

Haslem tried to turn back the clock by reminding the two former players about the losses they had suffered to the Miami Heat back in the day during the playoffs. But fans seemed to take it otherwise, slamming Haslem and his comments.

Haslem is now in his 20th season this year, all of them playing for the Miami Heat. And even though fans may hold some value to what they are saying, Haslem is undoubtedly a great veteran presence in the locker room.

He may not have contributed as much in stats but the things he did for the team off the court cannot perhaps be stated on a piece of paper.
