Rudy Gobert Mocked Jazz Teammate for Failed Banter With ‘Spider-Man’ Star Zendaya

Rudy Gobert trolled Donovan Mitchell after the Utah Jazz point guard retweeted Spider-Man: Far from Home actress Zendaya’s tweet. Mitchell seemed to have taken his nickname ‘Spida’ a bit too seriously.

Spiderman is an important character in Marvel comics. However, the cinematic rights of the character are owned by Sony.

The endearing version of Spiderman, played by British actor Tom Holland, appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the movie Captain America: Civil War. Fans loved it instantly.

Marvel’s parent company Disney struck a deal with Sony, which allowed the character to appear in movies of the MCU. But news of the collaboration between the two companies ending started circulating on social media.

Spiderman fans panicked. As they felt like they will never see their favorite hero in Marvel movies again.

But thankfully, Disney and Sony re-negotiated their deal. And Spidey was back in the MCU.

Both Marvel and Spiderman fans started celebrating the news. Meanwhile, Zendaya posted a Spidey gif to celebrate the news.

Mitchell retweeted her gif writing, “RUN IT BACk“. Gobert saw exactly what was happening.

He couldn’t let this golden opportunity slide. He trolled Mitchell, saying, “You are 0/5 bro next time let me set a good screen for you.

Mitchell showed some good sense of humor and laughed it off.

The marketing team of Spider-Man: Far from Home played on Mitchell’s ‘Spida’ nickname and featured him in a commercial for their film in 2019. The 25-year-old guard seemed to take the joke a bit too seriously.

He started getting a little too comfortable with Zendaya’s Twitter handle. Although, the 25-year-old actress didn’t reciprocate.

Mitchell also once posted a picture of Zendaya and wrote ‘Future wifey’ in the caption. The Twitter mentions were getting out of hand.

Gobert latched on to the opportunity like a free turnover. And he emphatically dunked on his teammate.

The banter between the two amused NBA fans around social media. But the current state of the Utah Jazz is far from amusing.
