The Los Angeles Lakers and their fans have had a rather untidy season, until just after the trade deadline passed. The LA side are now on a roll and are turning heads everywhere. The team was downright abysmal in the early season and, understandably, had to make some bold moves before the trade deadline to stay afloat. Having languished in the bottom half of their conference for most of 2022, the tide has definitely turned.

The Lakers’ star, LeBron James, must surely agree with such an outlook. He recently conveyed his excitement at the performances displayed by the rejuvenated side.

The team was branded as a lost cause as the season entered 2023. However, even in the absence of LeBron James, players as well as fans have turned up zealously for the games and are witnessing a fantastic turnaround. They can barely wait for more!

The Lakers continue their newfound form

Since the trade deadline, the Lakers have been amazing. The purple and gold have won in seven out of their last 10 matches, which is almost unbelievable considering their earlier form. On Saturday, they decided to prey on their newest victim, as they destroyed the Toronto Raptors in LA. Even though the team was outscored by the Toronto side in the first quarter, Anthony Davis and Co fought back stylishly to gain a 10-point lead before halftime.

There are surely several takeaways from the game, but the biggest one would be for the Lakers to focus on the young newcomers, who stepped up in the absence of the big guns. Anthony Davis was pretty quiet last night, scoring just eight points in a 33-minute period, but D’Angelo Russell, Dennis Schröder, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura combined for 85 points from the team’s win.

Russell’s return after a six-game absence was a sight for sore eyes as he set the bench on fire with his performance.

Fans were ecstatic after the dominant performance and shared their love on Twitter, as did the injured LeBron James.
