Russell Westbrook is one of the many famous stars in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers man is one of the big three players at the franchise alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. NBA fans often laud Westbrook for his knack for recording triple-doubles. Recently, Westbrook’s brother stirred the media spotlight as he quarreled with Lakers fans.

Westbrook’s brother, Ray Westbrook, squabbled with Lakers fans during a Twitter Spaces session of the franchise’s fans. Ray criticized the Lakers fans attending the Spaces’ session for holding his brother responsible for the Lakers’ woes this season. The Lakers fans for their part snickered back at Ray, dismissing his indignation.

Ray said, “This is the thing. Y’all think y’all know what’s going on with people here, but y’all don’t. Y’all wanna talk about – there never been an article about Russell and what goes on behind closed doors.”

He further added, “Listen bro listen, I’m not disagreeing with you, I never disagreed with nobody, but my thing is this. I’m not gonna let anybody come around here and just try to slander my brother. That’s not what’s gonna happen. And I don’t care who it is, that’s not gonna happen.”

Russell Westbrook began his NBA career in 2008 with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He left the Thunder in 2019 and joined Houston Rockets where he spent just a single season. After leaving the Rockets, he once again spent a single season at the Washington Wizards. Westbrook joined the Lakers in 2021.

Los Angeles Lakers fans, for the most part, did not express excitement when their franchise signed Westbrook in the off-season. However, recognizing Westbrook’s ability to record triple-doubles, there remained a cause for optimism. Unfortunately for both Lakers fans and Westbrook, this cautious optimism has not paid off for both parties.

As of January 3, when the Lakers played the Minnesota Timberwolves, Westbrook was second in the NBA in committing turnovers per game (4.8). His former teammates James Harden (4.9) remained first on the list. Lakers fans have questioned Westbrook’s form as his turnovers have led to the lowest player efficiency rating (15.9). It remains to be seen if Westbrook can turn his form around for the Lakers.
