The Los Angeles Lakers pulled out an enthralling win against the Spurs tonight. Notably, the duo of Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis went off in the Lakers’ overtime win over San Antonio. Not only did they contribute on offense, but also put their mark on the defensive end. Despite LeBron James’ absence, the purple and gold pulled through. AD and Russ proved that they can work together.

While there is no doubt the remaining Lakers did their job, Westbrook and Davis were the key. They were both balling out on the floor and making teammates around them better as well. Despite being in foul trouble, Russ came into the game and even scored some important buckets in overtime. For Davis, he was dominant on rebounding, pulling off seven offensive boards.

Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook do it all for the Lakers

In the 125-121 win for the Lakers, Russ and AD combined for over half the points. Westbrook went for 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. On the other hand, AD put up 35 points, 17 rebounds, and 4 assists. On the defensive side, the duo had three steals and four blocks in between each other.

With their contribution, they scored or assisted 91 out of the 125 points the Lakers scored this game. When they are in tune, it is clear that the Lakers have some serious talent at their disposal. Now, with Russell Westbrook figuring how he fits in, this was only the first display. This is the second time a Laker duo has out up 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game this season.

The first was LeBron and Anthony Davis on opening night against the Golden State Warriors. This is the one thing that the Lakers need to be successful. Two of their ‘Big 3’ need to show out while one turns into a supportive role. Sacrifice will be needed every night as LeBron James will make his return soon. While that is still something the organisation is figuring out, it is a positive to see Russell Westbrook be this aggressive.
