The Los Angeles Lakers were the kings of free agency. However, their preseason story has been underwhelming. Despite a team with star-studded talent, they have failed to come up with a win in three games. One of their signings, Russell Westbrook, played his first game as a Laker today against the Warriors. But his performance was not up to par.

Westbrook is one of the most energetic players in the league. His nuclear athleticism at the point helped him make his name. But everyone knows the Brodie for playing hard every play and his triple doubles. Well, his first game as a Laker was a story worth forgetting. Russ had a poor night against the Warriors, scoring in just single digits.

Looking at the Lakers’ preseason, there must be serious questions in the locker right now. However, Westbrook feels the people need to be patient, as he believes they will figure it out.

Russell Westbrook believes Lakers will figure it out

After a long free agency, the hype around the Lakers was unrivaled. No one would believe that they could lose three games in a row. But that is exactly the situation they are in. Russ and LeBron both played for the first time today, and it was one of the poorest showings. While LeBron ended with 9 points on 4-12 shooting, Russ could add just 2 points shooting 1-7.

While they said things are looking good in practice, game time is a whole new world altogether. When questioned about their performance through the postseason, Russ said they will need time. He claimed that the Lakers won’t be able to figure it out in a couple of weeks.

He said “Everything is not going to be figured out in the next week or two. We’ve got a long year ahead of us. It’s the preseason… We’ll figure it out.”

There is a lot of truth to what Russ is saying. While they did have a poor outing, it is only their first time sharing the floor. Moreover, it is not every day that they will combine to shoot 5-18 and add just 11 points to the tally. Overall, it was a poor shooting night for the superstars. There is no doubt that this isn’t the best they can offer and they will bounce back.
