Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers are having a tough time on the court. The Yellow and purple jerseys were handed their fourth loss of the season on Wednesday, 26th October. There are many problems with the squad, but fans have a lot of criticism for the players, including Westbrook. The player is in his second season with the Lakers, but is yet to have a successful run.

 

Rumors circulating on the Internet have speculated the 2017 NBA MVP leaving the Los Angeles Lakers. Meanwhile, fans have reacted to the rumor in their way wrapping it with humor and criticism.

Russell Westbrook leaving the Lakers

Russell Westbrook has been swarmed with criticism since the start of the 2022-23 season. The Los Angeles Lakers‘ 0-4 record is not helping his case either. The eight-time All-Star did not have any problems with injuries but is underperforming according to his standards. Westbrook can reportedly leave the LA Lakers if the run of form continues.

The 2017 NBA MVP has not touched his career average in the three games of 2022-23 season. Fans banked on the poor shooting skills of the player in the season and have posted tweets joking how Westbrook being traded to Beijing Ducks would be a good deal for the Chinese team as they would have enough ‘Bricks’ to build the Great Wall China again.

Such tweets are making rounds on the Internet and is another blow to the Lakers superstar who was at the top of his game a few years ago. Here are some similar tweets from disappointed fans.

The LA Lakers lost against the Portland Trail Blazers 106-104, on the 23rd of October and Russell Westbrook made a huge mistake in judgement which contributed to the loss. With 31 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the Lakers leading 102-101, the eight-time All-Star attempted a jump shot to no fruition.

This is the reason behind the criticism of the 33-year-0lds decision making and shooting. The player averaged a 28.9 % FG in 2022-23 compared to his career average of 43.8%.

Lakers 2022-23 season

The Lakers have had an abysmal start to the season with a 0-4 record on their books. The team has looked like the shadow of the 2019-20 NBA Champion squad.
