The Cleveland Cavaliers sparked hope in fans after they acquired NBA star Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell started his career in Utah in 2017 playing for the Jazz. During the five seasons he played for the Jazz, Mitchell was named the NBA All-Rookie First team and had an average of 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4.5 assists. During the 2020 playoffs, the three-time NBA All-Star had scored an average of 36 points, 5 rebounds and 4.9 assists.

Seems like the Cavaliers were aiming to boost up their roster when they signed a deal with Mitchell that is worth $163 million. The Cavaliers acquired Mitchell for Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji and Collin Sexton. During the summer, amidst the trade rumors, fans and Mitchell himself had anticipated that he would be traded to the New York Knicks. In fact, the 26-year old star had revealed during a press conference that he was expecting to join the Knicks as he wanted to be at home with his mother.
