Brittney Griner got her celebrity moment when she won the NCAA championship in 2012. The WNBA star became so famous in her hometown in Waco, Texas that it was difficult for her to even go to her class inside the Baylor University campus without a crowd around her. It was one of the most glorious times in her life as she did an adventurous thing with her guy friends. Back in 2014, BG had her Michael J Fox Hollywood moment in the most unexpected way.

Griner often found herself distant from other people growing up. She was often bullied as a kid for being different. However, she still loved being around people. Brittney Griner talked about an adventurous moment in her life after winning the NCAA championship in her memoir, In My Skin: My Life On and Off The Basketball field in 2014.

The Phoenix Mercury center was delighted to have a moment in the sun and be treated like a celebrity at her university. She reckoned that being Brittney Griner in Waco had its own advantages.

Several weeks after the championship win, Griner went out late at night with her male friends Nash, Albert, A.J., and Mikey. BG surprisingly came up with the idea of climbing up on a longboard while holding on to the back of Mikey’s Mitsubishi Lancer. She was joined by Mikey, Nash, and Albert while A.J. drove the car. Griner and her friends took a ride around the whole campus, cruising past Main Street, University Drive, at 30-40 mph. However, the speed seemed really fast to her on the longboard.

Further, Brittney Griner said, “It was like that scene in Back to the Future 2, when Michael J. Fox is on his hoverboard, riding behind the car- just as insane rush.”

The WNBA star felt like she was on top of the world while riding her longboard. She finally got her Hollywood moment and felt like Michael J. Fox riding on a hoverboard. It was a priceless moment in BG’s life as she often had trouble fitting in around people.

But, a victory made her a celebrity, allowing her a moment of recognition. She made some good friends and had some adventurous times with them during her time at Baylor.

The WNBA star would be reminiscing about past moments like this as she prepares for one of the toughest phases of her life. Currently, she faces a nine-year prison sentence in a Russian penal colony following her conviction on drug trafficking charges.
