The NBA has seen many superstars lose their careers because of injuries. Derrick Rose is one of those players in recent years to have gone through a number of injuries that ruined his career. He is the youngest ever player to win the regular season MVP award. Rose was full of potential and was expected to be an all-time great when he retired. But things went south after his injuries piled up. Unfortunately, he is not alone. Injuries are a part of this game and it is not easy to predict or avoid them.

In the past few years, former all-star John Wall also went through a horrible phase with his injuries. He also had a tough time dealing with the death of his mother.

He recently opened up about his struggles and revealed that he almost had his foot amputated because of an infection from all the surgeries he went through. The fans were shaken hearing this. Here are some of the reactions:

Most fans were gutted by what he had to go through in the last few years. Wall also opened up about his depression and suicidal thoughts.

Talking about his depression, Wall said, “That was when I started going to a really dark place. The thoughts would be playing in my head like… ‘My best friend is gone. I can’t play the game I love. Everybody just got their hand out. Nobody is checking on me for me. It’s always coming with something attached. Who’s there to hold me down now? What’s the point of being here?'”

He then admitted to people close to him that he needed help. They took him to a therapist and things have changed for the better now.

After playing one year of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats, Wall declared for the 2010 NBA draft. The Washington Wizards drafted him as the first overall pick in the draft. In his first season in the league, Wall averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game. With this performance, he made the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

The former Wildcat was one of the quickest players in the league and was lethal in moving the ball downhill during fast breaks. He was also one of the most explosive guards and he won the 2014 Slam Dunk Contest. Wall has an estimated net worth of $300 million.
