The Golden State Warriors have evened up the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. After losing Game 1 in dramatic fashion, they came out and blew the Celtics out of the building in Game 2. And NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal believes they did that by not focusing too much on Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

In Game 1, the Warriors let Al-Horford, Derrick White, and Marcus Smart combined for 65 points. In Game 2, they combined for just 16 points on 6-23 shooting. The Warriors made sure that the others don’t beat them and they were not just focusing on Tatum and Brown. And even the great Shaquille O’Neal agrees on that.

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal praises the Warriors for not just sticking to Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum

Shaq was very impressed with the adjustments the Warriors made. When he was asked what separated the two teams, he said,” The biggest adjustment that Golden State… Okay White you won’t get 20 tonight, Okay Horford you won’t hit 6 threes tonight. And they slowed him down. Tatum did his thing, he came back and had a great game. Brown got slowed down a little bit.”

“But listen, we knew that Golden State was gonna respond like this. We now have a series. The refs let them play tonight, it was a lot of scratching, a lot of fouling, a lot of talking… the refs let’em play…” Shaq said that the Golden State Warriors did a very good job of defending the three-point line. He also said that they did an excellent job in keeping the others quiet.

The Warriors let Game 1 slip away because they were focusing too much on Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. They let Al Horford get wide-open shots and he made them pay. However, in Game 2, they were all over him. Horford got only four shots up in the entire game.

Smart meanwhile had only six attempts. The Warriors have decided on one strategy. If they lose, it has to be in the hands of Tatum and Brown and they won’t let the others beat them. The Boston Celtics will need to do a better job in ensuring that they get the entire team rolling and not just their two stars.
