Shaquille O’Neal has been vastly growing his massive empire with a wide array of investments, slowly consolidating his staggering fortune. The Los Angeles Lakers legend owns many successful businesses across the spectrum spanning all over the country. However, Shaq recently expressed his desire to own a sporting team that is close to his heart. In fact, the Big Diesel indicated that he could buy LeBron James’ former team, putting his whopping $600 million net worth to good use.

In the recent iteration of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the four-time NBA champ joined co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams for another fun episode. Shaquille O’Neal seemed to be in a great mood as Adams and Turner emanated the Christmas spirits with their costumes. During the discussions, Shaq’s disinterest in buying Twitter prompted the co-hosts to ask about the Lakers legend’s desire of owning an NBA team.

Shaquille O’Neal reveals the teams he wants to buy

During the podcast, co-host Spice Adams asked Shaquille O’Neal if he would buy the Phoenix Suns. Shaq responded that if he ever owned a team he would like to be the face of the franchise and live in the team’s home city. The 15-time All-Star also shared that he was interested in running a team with a bigger minority or majority ownership.

Meanwhile, co-host Nischelle Turner’s subsequent question resulted in the Big Diesel revealing his desire to own a basketball team in Florida. Turner asked if Shaq was serious about the thought of owning a team. In response, Shaq said, “Yes, I want to own a team in Florida. You put it out, anywhere in Florida.”

In addition, Shaq revealed that he wanted to own an NBA team in Florida. Turner pointed out the two Florida-based franchises were the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat. Incidentally, Shaq has played for both the teams during his playing days. The Big Diesel didn’t confirm anything yet but hinted that he’s interested in buying a minority or a majority share in either the Miami Heat, or the Orlando Magic.

Which team could Shaq buy?

Shaquille O’Neal started off his NBA career with the Orlando Magic in 1992. He made great use of the opportunity to show his domination on the court with the Florida-based franchise. However, he left Orlando in 1996 and joined the Los Angeles Lakers in a record-breaking deal at the time to pursue his dream of winning a championship.

After his stint with the Lakers, Shaquille O’Neal joined the Miami Heat in 2004 and won the franchise’s first-ever NBA championship in 2006. Therefore, it would be interesting to see if Shaq puts his money on his and LeBron James’ former team.
